Lead Church Planters
Pastor George Lim and Janelle Lim
Core Team Members
Jon and Jackie Owens
After meeting as undergraduates at Purdue University in the mid-1990s, the Owens' life has taken them literally around the globe. They married in 1998 at Pike's Place Market in Seattle, WA, then were led to San Diego, CA, where they joined the core team planting The City Church. Once the church was established, they were led to move again - this time closer to family in Memphis, TN.
In 2011, the Owens family began an exciting 2.5-year adventure living overseas in Singapore. Jon worked for Pratt & Whitney while Jackie taught Bible classes to grades 6-8 at International Community School Singapore. The family was relocated back to the United States, landing in beautiful South Glastonbury, Connecticut in October 2013.
Jon is still enjoying his work in the aerospace industry and Jackie adores working as a Special Education paraprofessional for Glastonbury Public Schools. They are abundantly blessed with three vibrant children: Jordan (15) attends Glastonbury High School, Jonathan (12) attends Gideon Welles Middle School, and Jude attends Nayaug Elementary School.
Jon and Jackie Owens are lay leaders who share a passion for serving God in a variety of ministries, including: community service, worship music, and nurturing the exploration of God's Word for children and youth.
As soon as she met the leadership team, Kiera knew The River Church was just something she wanted to be a part of.
While earning her BA in English, Kiera was part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's leadership team, eventually becoming president. While completing her MFA in Creative Writing, she continued as part of the leadership team of Christian Fellowship on campus, also eventually becoming president. Education is her passion and she is currently pursuing her MS in Professional Counseling with a Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis.
Along with her love of singing and watching scary movies, Kiera also loves to write. She just completed the first draft of her first novel! As she embarks on this new journey, she sees this as another step of faith for herself and cannot wait to see what God's plan is for The River Church Glastonbury!
